Moritz Ploner completed his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Technical University of Vienna (2020). He went on to earn his master's degree in Electrical Energy Engineering from the University of Bologna (2022). During his master’s, he spent a semester at the Electrical Insulation Research Center at the University of Connecticut, to work on his master’s thesis. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Advanced Systems Engineering at the "Sensing Technologies Lab" at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, in collaboration with Empatica, a full-stack digital healthcare company and a pioneer in digital biomarker development and continuous health monitoring driven by AI.
Moritz’s Ph.D. is partially supported by the European Union Next-GenerationEU (PIANO NAZIONALE DI RIPRESA E RESILIENZA (PNRR) – MISSIONE 4 COMPONENTE 2, INVESTIMENTO 3.3 – Decreto del Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca n.352 del 09/04/2022) within the Advanced-Systems Engineering Ph.D. Program at unibz and co-funded by Empatica.
His primary focus is on designing and developing an electrochemical sensor for detecting human biochemical profiles from sweat.
