Short Biography

Christian Ebner joined the Sensing Technology Lab of the Free University of Bolzano (Italy) as research assistant (AR) in June 2020. During his (still ongoing) Ph.D. studies at the University of Vienna (Austria) he investigated mechanical properties of metallic glasses. His research focused on rejuvenation of bulk metallic glasses processed by severe plastic deformation via the method of high pressure torsion as well as TiAl amorphous thin films studied by in-situ tensile tests in the Transmission Electron Microscope. Similarly, he obtained his Master of Science degree in physics at the University of Vienna (2014) with the thesis "Devitrification of Co3Ti Studied by Electron Microscopy Methods” as well as the Bachelor of Science degree (2012) with the thesis titled "Contrast Formation and Dislocation Imaging in the Transmission Electron Microscope".
Thereby, he gained expertise on a variety of characterization techniques including Transmission Electron Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Nanoindentation, Atomic Force Microscopy, and Differential Scanning Calorimetry.
