Short Biography
Giulia Elli is currently enrolled in the PhD program of Food Engineering and Biotechnology at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, in collaboration with IIT (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia)
Her PhD project focuses on the use of Field Effect Transistors as sensors, for the detection of water contaminants. Part of the work is carried out together with the Smart Materials group in IIT.
She obtained a Bachelor degree in Biotecnologia at the Università degli Studi di Milano in 2017. She graduated in 2019 from Lund University (Sweden) with a MSc degree in Biotechnology. Her thesis was conducted at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi (Texas, USA) in the Laboratory for Microbial and Environmental Genomics under the supervision of Dr. Jeffrey Turner. Here her work consisted in the isolation and genomic characterization of marine bacteria with the potential to degrade PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate).
